This year’s Notting Hill carnival was a bit quite-the floats were less, compared to last year.
What was also new, there were few black people(Africans) and more white people-in the past years, you saw more black revellers but now the number has dwindled.
There were less metal barriers between the revellers and floats-this became a nightmare as you had the facebook generation jumping into the floats to be photographed by their friends-indeed, they became a nuisance to everyone’s liking.
However, the atmosphere was calm and no incidents of violence were visible. Not very sure if I would go back next year, as the buzz was missing.
But, overall the organisers did a wonderful job, and who knows, maybe after the credit crunch the crazy people will be in the area at next-year’s carnival.
